A three-day international workshop on Celestial Mechanics and Dynamical Astronomy (IWCMDA 2023) was organised from 06 - 08 January 2023 by the Department of Mathematics, Central University of Rajasthan, Ajmer, India, in collaboration with IUCAA, Pune—the workshop aimed to motivate enthusiastic students to pursue a research career in Celestial Mechanics and Dynamical Astronomy. The main objective of the workshop was to provide the basic principles of celestial mechanics and dynamical astronomy along with the current trends about its different aspects in the context of real-world problems so that participants could execute their ideas on realistic models of astronomy, dynamical astronomy, astrophysics, celestial mechanics, chemistry, physics, International Workshop on Celestial Mechanics and Dynamical Astronomy (IWCMDA 2023) mechanics, computer science etc. Moreover, it facilitated the interaction between established researchers and young budding researchers, leading to interaction amongst each other to discuss their research problems. Out of 155 applications from 27 different states of the country, 45 participants received the opportunity to be part of this program. Further, an additional 15 participants from the CURAJ were included, considering their interest in the event theme, on a first-come, first-served basis. The three-day workshop comprised 16 lectures of an hour each, one interaction session of one and a half hours duration The Department of Physics, Mar Thoma College, Chungathara, in collaboration with IUCAA, Pune, conducted a three-day Women in Astronomy Workshop on Introductory Astronomy and Astrophysics from 6-8 December 2022. Forty-two female participants were from different parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. The sessions were handled by Professor Annapurni Subramaniam (IIA), Professor Indulekha K (M G University), Professor Sarita Vig (IIST, Trivandrum), Dr Mousumi Das (IIA), Dr Jessy Jose (IIST, Tirupati), Dr. Sreeja S Kartha (CHRIST, Bangalore), Dr. Nayana A J (IIA), Dr. Drisya K (University of Calicut) and Dr Minu Joy (Alphonsa College, Pala, Kerala). T h e p a r t i c i p a n t s we r e g i v e n t h e opportunity to explore the sky by arranging a skywatch programme on the second day of the workshop, and the sessions were handled by Dr Nijo Varghese (SH College, Chalakudy) and Dr Tharanath R (Aquinas College, Kochi). The main aim of this program was to foster an interest in astronomy & astrophysics among the girls in the region and to bring in more women astronomers. The participants were given the opportunity to explore more in the area of fundamentals of astronomy, ground and space-based observatories, stars and stellar astrophysics, galaxies in the near Universe and their formation, radio astronomy & cosmology. Professor Introductory Workshop on Astronomy and Astrophysics for Women Students Annapurni Subramaniam introduced the fundamentals of astrophysics and astronomy observations from space & ground. Professor Sarita Vig explained the birth of stars and star clusters. Dr. Mousumi Das explained the galaxies in the nearby universe, and Professor K. Indulekha discussed galaxy formation. Dr Sreeja S Kartha explained the galaxy evolution and different observational techniques in astronomy. Dr Jessy Jose covered the topic of exoplanets with the detection methods. Dr A. J. Nayana introduced the radio astronomy techniques, and Dr Minu Joy discussed the basics of cosmology. Dr Drisya K. explained the process of nuc l eosynthes i s . There was much interaction among the resource persons and young participants on various topics. The workshop was coordinated by Annu Jacob (IUCAA) and Sheelu Abraham (Mar Thoma College, Chungathara). | 17 | KHAG L | No. 130 - JANUARY, APRIL & JULY 2023
