The seminar was organised and dedicated to the memor y of the Late Thanu fields ' by Professor Ramaprakash, IUCAA, Pune. Professor A. Bhadra from HECRC, North-Bengal University, delivered an invited talk on ' A pursuit of the origin of Sagan Effect.' Padmanabhan (Paddy). Ninety-five students actively participated in the seminar, including research scholars and faculties from neighbouring colleges and universities. Dr. B. C. Paul, Coordinator, ICARD, NBU, briefly introduced ICARD at NBU. Professor Om Prakash Misra, Vice- Chancellor of North Bengal University, welcomed the distinguished guests from I UCAA , Pune , f o l l owed by a sho r t description of the IUCAA-NBU joint program by Professors Naresh Dadhich andS. V. Dhurandhar at the inaugural talk. Two-day National Seminar at ICARD, Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University The IUCAA Centre for Astronomy Research and Development (ICARD), Department of Physics, Cooch Behar Panchanan Barma University (CBPBU) organised a two-day national seminar titled “General Relativity and Gravitation” at the university (main) campus on 22 and 23 November 2022. Dr Debkumar Mukhopadhyay, Hon'ble Vice- Chancellor of the university, graced the occas i on as the ch i e f pa t ron and inaugurated the programme. Professor Naresh Dadhich, former Director, IUCAA, Pune and Professor Bikash Chandra Paul, Department of Physics, University of North Bengal, were the invited speakers at the seminar. The lectures the invited speakers delivered were meant to introduce the fundamentals of General Relativity and Gravitation and give the participants a flavour of recent progress in astrophysics The seminar was attended by more than eighty participants (post-graduate students, research scholars and faculty members) from nearby colleges and universities. The seminar ended with a lively and informative interactive session titled “Ask the Scientists,” which all appreciated. The seminar was coordinated by Dr Ranjan Sharma, Coordinator, ICARD (CBPBU) andProfessor RanjeevMisra, IUCAA, Pune. and cosmology. The PhDstudents presented some papers. General RelativityandCosmology The Centre for Cosmology, Astrophysics and Space Science (CCASS), GLA University, Mathura, organised a three-day workshop from24 - 26 November 2022 on General Relativity and Cosmology (GRC-22) where esteemed Faculty / Professors from distinguished institutes were invited to speak on the thematic topics.
